Violin making

The good sound of a stringed instrument starts with the wood

naturally dried woods from native forests

Our instruments are made exclusively of spruce and maple from our native forests and from the forests of Bosnia, Austria and norhern Italy.

Particularly, I make sure to buy only wood that was beaten at the right phase of the moon and is stored under optimal conditions.

Our friends compare our Lumberyard often with a French winery - for good reason, because even Tonholz must mature in peace - just like an old Bordeaux.

All my models are inspired by old Italian and German violins. Each instrument is built and lovingly precise detail crafted and painted by hand.

With same diligence we also perform repairs and sound adjustments to bows and strings.
